3G Ideal Card (Pre-Paid Card)
  • Ideal Card is a 3G pre-paid card issued by Chunghwa Telecom that includes a subscriber identity module (SIM card) and NT$300 airtime credits.
  • No monthly fees, no deposit, and no contract are required. As long as you continue to recharge your Ideal Card using Ideal Recharge Vouchers within valid period, you will be able to continue using the number assigned to your Ideal Card.
  • Valid Period: The Ideal Card expires 180 days from the time it is activated. Subscribers can extend the valid period by adding airtime credits to Ideal Card with Ideal Recharge Vouchers. The expiry date of Ideal Card will be 180 days since the date the last Recharge Voucher is deposited.
  • Ideal Recharge Voucher is the refill card for Ideal Card with three face values: NT$300, NT$500 and NT$1000. The credits recharged to Ideal Card are valid for 180 days since the day deposited. As long as you continue to recharge your Ideal Card using Ideal Recharge Vouchers within valid period, you will be able to continue using the number assigned to your Ideal Card.
  • Receiving Calls and SMS are free of charge.(charged to sender)
  • Service Content: voice call, SMS, video call, GPRS and MMS
  • SIM Card Specifications: USIM (Stardard SIM card) and Micro SIM card (for iPhone4 and iPad)
  • 3G system: WCDMA
  • Ideal Card is exclusive for purchase and use in Taiwan; No international roaming service is provided. Last Call Info SMS, Voice Recharge, and all calling services are not available in non-Taiwan area.
  • You can use voice communication and data services with Ideal Card. However, if the subscriber did not subscribe to"3G Pre-Paid Card Broadband Short-Term Plan," data service will be charged per packet and may result in mass credit-reduction. We suggest customers with data service demand to also apply for our Broadband Short-Term Plan.

3G Pre-Paid Card Broadband Short-Term Plan
  • This service plan is designed for 3G Pre-Paid Card customers who have short-term internet demand. 3G Pre-paid card subscribers, after applying for this service, can have unlimited internet usage and specific mobile service within valid period.
  • There are three different rates for the plan:
    • 1-Day: NT$100; 24 consecutive hours of handheld data service
    • 3-Day: NT$250; 72 consecutive hours of handheld data service
    • 7-Day: NT$450; 168 consecutive hours of handheld data service
  • Dial 539 (free of charge) hotline anytime during the valid period for inquiries about service activation and termination time. We provide auto system SMS reminder before/after service expiry as well as auto cut-off data connection once service expires.
  • Note:
    1. For subscribers of 3G Pre-Paid Card Broadband Short-Term Plan, please change your APN of handset to emome and Internet for internet browsing and emome mobile network service provided by Chunghwa Telecom.
    2. It usually takes around 15 minutes to activate the service. However, the actual time should be based on system setting. The subscriber will receive an SMS for service activation and termination information. If data connection is being used at that time, the device shall be turned off. Restart your device to enjoy the special rate under this service. You will receive SMS before (around one hour before termination of plan) and after termination of the plan.
    3. The system will send out SMS notification when the service is about to expire, and automatically cut-off data connection once service expires. Subscribers may re-connect to internet service, but will be charged in accordance with original internet service tariffs.
    4. "24/72/168 consecutive hours" means the service is available for 24/72/168 consecutive hours once the service is activated. For example, upon subscriber's application, 1-Day plan (24 consecutive hours) is activated on 8/1 14:00:00. Subscribers can access to internet service for 24 hours in total before the service terminates on 8/2 13:59:59
    5. Subscribers still need to pay for charges associated with services such as calling, video call, SMS, video streaming, game/video/ring tone downloads, and MMS (in accordance with 3G Pre-Paid Card tariffs).
    6. The service charge is deducted from balance credits deposited by subscribers and cannot be deducted from complimentary credits gifted by Chunghwa Telecom.
    7. Since the plan is for short-term service, no changes to the rate or cancellation are allowed once application is done and service activated.
    8. The plan is designed for general public on normal use of internet. Chunghwa Telecom may terminate the service if commercial use or other mal-use is involved; and Chunghwa has the right to claim charge per package for data service rendered.
    9. Actual internet speed for service provided by Chunghwa Telecom may vary due to different terrain/climate, building shelter conditions, the terminal-equipments, number of users, and network systems. Subscribers may inquire for internet coverage from our website.
    10. If the mobile terminal equipment spreads computer virus or any program that may interfere with normal operation of computers, Chunghwa Telecom may suspend the communication and terminate service contract. Chunghwa Telecom retains the right to file for legal recourse for damages caused by misconduct of the user.

3G Broadband Short-Term Plan
  • Subscribers may, within valid period, use unlimited internet browsing service once register.
  • Rate plans: 3-Day (72 consecutive hours) for NT$250; 7-Day (168 consecutive hours) for NT$450
  • This plan contains Internet Browsing only. Services such as, voice calls, SMS, MMS, video calls, emome net services, payment (include 839 service), international roaming and any value-added services are not provided.
  • Note:
    1. The plan enables customer to connect to internet with self-prepared notebook (or PDA) and 3G/3.5G mobile internet device.

    3. Subscribers of the plan are not able to apply for emome membership. The plan goes in effect upon application; and making changes to the rate or cancellation is not allowed once activated.
    4. The service goes in effect immediately upon application and terminates at 23:59:59 on the day of expiration. For example, if 3-Day Broadband Short-Term Plan the subscriber applies on Oct. 1, this service activates immediately and terminates at 23:59:59 on Oct. 4.
    5. The internet speed differs due to location, number of users and data cards used.
    6. The plan is for public general use only. Chunghwa Telecom may terminate the service without further notice if commercial use or other mal-use is involved.

  • Application Procedure

    1. Travel to Taiwan.
    2. Upon arrival, please present your Reservation Number, passport, and secondary ID to the service counter of Chunghwa Telecom Airport Service Center.
      Group Reservation: please present the Reservation Number, and the passports and secondary IDs of all the applicants in this group.
    3. Purchase a 3G Pre-Paid card service.
    4. Insert the SIM card into your mobile device and ready for use.

  • Note

    • Reservation is available 14 days (and should be completed no later than 3 days ) before pick-up date. Overdue reservation or any amendment is not allowed.
    • 3G Pre-Paid Card Broadband Short-Term Plan can be also applied at Chunghua Telecom Service Centers (excluding Senao retail stores).
    • Secondary ID may be one of the following:
      • Entry Permit issued by Taiwan National Immigration Agency
      • Visa, Tourist Visa, AR
      • Internatioanl Student Card
      • If none of the above is available, the subscriber may use his/her official Photo ID (such as Social Security Card, Identity Card, or Driver's License).

  2. To save your valuable time, please use our online reservation to accelerate the application process.

3G Pre-Paid Card Instructions

  1. Following instructions will be included in the Product Manual.
  2. Initial setup: Insert the SIM card into your mobile handset and turn the handset on.
  3. This service aims at saving international roaming, domestic and international calls to China, Hong Kong, Macao, etc. Please refer to DM provided at Airport Service Center or dial 928 for customer service from your handset for other services.
  4. How to Make a Call:
    1. Domestic Land Line: area code + phone number + SEND
    2. Mobile: mobile phone number + SEND
    3. International: 009 or 019 + country code + area code + phone number + SEND
    4. Others: dial 112 for Emergency Hot Line (free)
  5. How to Send SMS:
    1. Local SMS: simply enter receiver's local Mobile number. (e.g. 09xxxxxxxx)
    2. International SMS: please enter "+" + "country code" + "receiver's mobile number" (e.g. sending SMS to China, you need to enter +86xxxxxxxxxxx)
  6. How to Recharge Your Ideal Card:
    1. Scratch the silver strip on the Recharge Voucher to reveal the 12-digit voucher number.
    2. Dial *101*2* + 12-digit voucher number + # from your handset or dial 928 from your handset, and follow the voice instructions to recharge your Ideal Card
    *Credit expiry date is recalculated from recharge date.
    *Multiple recharge of Ideal Card is available and the credit will be added up. The expiry date of your Ideal Card will be 180 days after the last recharge.
  7. Where to Buy the Recharge Vouchers
    1. Chunghwa Telecom Service Centers or Senao Retai Stores
    2. Convenience Stores (Including 7-11, Hi-Life, OK Mart, and Niko Mart)

  10. Note:
    1. At the end of each outgoing call, you will receive a text containing Last Call Info showing called number, duration, cost and remaining balance. (However, there is no text of Last Call Info for SMS-related services.)
    2. Outgoing calls cannot be made when your Ideal balance reaches zero; incoming calls can still be received within the expiry date. Please recharge your Ideal Card for outgoing call services.
I am a foreign traveller. How can I subscribe to Ideal Card?
The subscriber (at least 20 years old) should visit Chunghwa Telecom Service Center in person with passport and secondary ID. Secondary ID may be one of the following: Entry Permit issued by Taiwan National Immigration Agency, Visa, Tourist Visa, ARC, or International Student Card. If none of the above is available, the subscriber may use his/her official Photo ID (such as Social Security Card, Identity Card, or Driver’s License).
I lost my Ideal Card (My handset is lost; how should I stop my phone service?)
Contact our 24-hour toll free number 928 (and then dial 9) or 0800-080-928 to report a lost card and suspend service. The subscriber must bring identification documents to Chunghwa Telecom Service Center to apply for a replacement for NT$300 charge. The remaining credit may be resumed within valid period. Chunghwa Telecom is not responsible for any credit missing resulting from the loss of Ideal Card.
Card Replacement
For any non-manmade damage to the Ideal Card within one year of purchase, or for use of Ideal Card more than five years, replacement of new card is free of charge. If the Ideal Card is lost or damnaged by improper use, Chunghwa Telecom is not responsible for the unused credits. The subscriber may apply for a replacement card in accordance with Chunghwa Telecom Sim Card Replacement Regulations.
Expiry Date of Ideal Recharge Voucher?
There is no expiry date of Ideal Recharge Voucher. The Ideal Card, however, expires 180 days from the time it is activated. As long as you continue to recharge your Ideal Card within valid period, you will be able to continue using the number assigned to your Ideal Card. (Multiple recharge of Ideal Card is available and the credit will be added up. The expiry date of your Ideal Card will be 180 days after the last recharge.)
What if my Ideal Card expires?
  • The number will be retrieved 3 months after the expiry date, if the number is not yet assigned to another subscriber, you may call our customer service or visit our Service Centers (excluding Senao Retail Stores) with identification documents for application to recover reuse the number and remaining balance credits.
  • If the number is already assigned to another subscriber, you may visit our Service Centers (excluding Senao retail stores) with identification documents to apply for transferring unused balance credits to any appointed Chunghwa Telecom mobile number.
  • The remaining unused credits mentioned above do not include bonus credits gifted by Chunghwa Telecom, for example, free talk minutes, free SMS and value-added services, etc.
  • If the customer fails to apply for remaining credits transfer/reuse 6 months after the Ideal Card expires, Chunghwa Telecom may charge a fixed custodian fee every month from the 7th month until all the remaining balance credits are used up.
Can I use my Ideal Card for International Roaming?
Ideal Card does not provide international roaming service; only international calling!
  • Calling International:009 + country code + area code + phone number + SEND
    0 1 9+ country code + area code + phone number + SEND
  • Calling your Ideal Card number from abroad:IDD code + 886 (Taiwan country code) + your Ideal Card Number (without the prefix zero)
Can I apply for Ideal Card if I am under 18?
Applicant must be at least 20 years old. For those who are less than 20 years old, please ask your parents or guardian to assist you for application.
Is there expiry date for my credits?
You can use your remaining credits as long as your Ideal Card is within valid period. However, there is expiry date for Ideal Card which is 180 days from the date of last recharge.
For example: Mr. Lin used all his credits on 2006/6/6 and immediately recharged with NT$500. His remaining balance was NT$500 valid until 2006/12/3 (180 days from 2006/6/6). On 2006/10/3, the remaining credit was NT$100 so Mr. Lin recharged with another NT $1000. The remaining balance is now NT$1100 and will expire on 2007/4/1 (180 days from 2007/10/3).
What is "3G Pre-Paid Card Broadband Short-Term Plan"?
This plan is designed for 3G Pre-Paid Card customer who also has short-term internet demand. 3G Pre-paid card subscribers of this service can enjoy unlimited internet usage and specific mobile service within valid period.
What is the tariff for "3G Pre-Paid Card Broadband Short-Term Plan"?
There are three different tariffs:
  .1-Day: NT$100; 24 consecutive hours of handheld data service
  .3-Day: NT$250; 72 consecutive hours of handheld data service
  .7-Day: NT$450; 168 consecutive hours of handheld data service
How should I set APN?
When broswing emome mobile network or using MMS services with your handset, please set APN to emome; for broswing internet, please set APN to Internet.
What services can I use if I subscribe to the plan?
You will have unlimited access to internet and emone mobile network browsing. The subscriber still needs to pay for charges associated with services such as calling, video call, SMS, video streaming, game/video/ring tone downloads, and MMS (in accordance with 3G Pre-Paid Card tariffs).
How long does it take for my plan to be activated?

"24/72/168 consecutive hours" means the service is available for 24/72/168 consecutive hours once the service is activated. For example, upon subscriber’s application, 1-Day plan (24 consecutive hours) is activated on 8/1 14:00:00. Chunghwa Telecom provides our customers the best service with best benefit. The applicant can use the service from the day of application until the night 3 or 7 days later. For example, the applicant applied for 3-Day plan on 10/1 can start using the service immediately and the unlimited broswing service is provided until 10/4 23:59:59.
Do I receive SMS notification before my service expires?
Since the service always terminates at 23:59:59, Chunghwa Telecom will not provide any SMS notification.
If I subscribe to the plan, can I make any further change to my application?
No changes can be made except card replacement.
How can I subscribe to the plan?
Please visit our service centers or Senao retail stores for application.
Do I need to cancel my service when the usage time expires?
No. The service will be automatically termianted once the usage time expires.
If I want to extend my usage when the service expires, what shoud I do?
Please visit our service centers or Senao retail stores again for application.
